About The Position

With continual growth comes opportunity and Sargent has an immediate opening for a Cost Estimator I. Position Summary Develops cost estimates and pricing packages in accordance with Federal Acquisition Requirements (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Work in a cross-functional team to confirm costing and pricing assumptions for cost estimates. Create standard Bills of Materials (BOMs) and pricing packages according to company procedures for defense and commercial proposals. Analyze labor hours and material costs to generate accurate cost targets. Assist with the evaluation of vendor and subcontractor bids. Support and defend customer audits, fact-finding, and negotiations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED AND 2 years of experience in a directly related field OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting – no direct experience required
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Computer skills – MS Excel and ERP’s (Syteline preferred)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred
  • Prefer 2 years of experience and demonstrated performance in one or more of the following:
  • Experience estimating in a manufacturing and engineering environment
  • Experience in cost estimating and/or cost analysis
  • Experience generating and/or analyzing bills of material
  • Government contracts and pricing FAR and CAS regulations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with purchasing processes
  • Previous manufacturing/production experience
  • Prior accounting/finance related experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety is the foundation of daily work through vigilance and accountability
  • Development of cost estimates for government and commercial quotations/proposals
  • Excel based labor and material cost analysis to support customer quote requests.
  • Review the reasonableness and accuracy of product cost inputs for material, labor, and Other Direct Costs (ODC).
  • Compare and analyze historical labor costs to standard routers.
  • Analyze material costs based on purchase history and supplier quotes.
  • Coordinate and discuss requirements for proposals and costing assumptions with a cross-functional team.
  • Support DCAA and customer audits
