About The Position

We are currently looking for a Cost Engineering Manager to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and lead a team of high-performing individuals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct experience, which should include a minimum of 2 years in a management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Understanding of vehicle commodities, their costs, each cost element, and part manufacturing processes, plus a strong financial acumen.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to senior executive audiences.
  • Ability to work across functions/countries while influencing the business for long-term strategies.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and data-driven problem-solving abilities.
  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be required to provide proof of employment eligibility at the time of hire; Nissan uses E-Verify to validate employment eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other advanced degrees strongly preferred.
  • 3-7 years or experience in seating and/or soft trim components and/or cockpit module.
  • 3-7 years of experience in manufacturing process such as plastic injection, steel stamping, die casting, painting, chrome plating.
  • Familiarity with estimating software or programming skills.
  • Previous experience in a costing department from a supplier and/or OeM.

Responsibilities

  • Department Performance including hiring, developing, training, and engaging a team of approximately 3-7 engineers.
  • Develop staff to be subject matter experts for their respective commodities.
  • Set the vision and initiatives to improve vehicle profitability through part or commodity activities.
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities and support their implementation through a variety of activities.
  • Effectively represent the NCO department through a deep focus on the needs of the customer through ongoing communication, clarification of expectations, strong collaboration, and development of SMART objectives. This will require timely, accurate, transparent, and detailed (yet simplified) reporting to communicate an objective’s status to Executives, customers and peers.
  • Challenge and support established budgets for Purchased Parts and Vendor Tooling of New Model Car Programs (Minor Model and Full Model Change) in the Americas region during the product development phase and past start of production.
  • Drive consistency and continuous improvement within the country, NAFTA region and globally by creating and/or leading cross-functional or intra-departmental projects.
