About The Position

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year. The candidate will act as the Cost Engineer on the upcoming project. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, Houston or Cheyenne, Wyoming, as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in executing, monitoring, and evaluating cost engineering activities, including cost estimation, cost control, and cost analysis.
  • Proficient in the use of EcoSys software.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, as well as a solid understanding of relevant Controller instructions that affect Project Controls, such as Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data.
  • Competent in engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, and startup processes, in accordance with Bechtel's operational standards.
  • Expertise in engineering and construction management is obtained through targeted education or extensive practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed
  • Supports the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports
  • Assists with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
  • Prepares cost data for proposals or contracts
  • Coordinates the development and accuracy of cost reports
  • Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency
  • Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
  • Collects and classifies cost data
  • Performs budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
  • Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons
