Our firm is currently looking for a Cost Controls Specialist based at the project site in Portland, OR. The Cost Controls Specialist position's key responsibilities are to track, manage, and analyze program costs such as budgets, actuals, estimates to complete, revisions, and run regular cash flow and tracking reports for public construction projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of cost control experience in the construction field.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be detail oriented with effective organization and coordination skills.
  • Must have ability to interface and communicate effectively with others.
  • Knowledge of construction cost accounting that includes setting up budgets, commitments, actual cost, remaining cost, potential and approved change orders, and estimate to complete.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Expedition/CM13, Procore, Unifier, and eBuilder is preferred.
  • Previous work experience on a hospital or medical project is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Cost Control Manager and the Project Controls Manager
  • Participates in the development and improvement of the project controls systems.
  • Recommends improvements in systems, tools, and methods of project controls.
  • Establishes a project work breakdown structure in line with industry best practices.
  • Interacts with other project groups to provide cost codes, purchase order commitments, and change orders to ensure accounting guidelines are implemented.
  • Prepare a monthly Total Project Cost Estimate (TPCE) analysis and other reports as deemed necessary by the County for the Project.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews and analysis, including running risk simulation programs such as Monte Carlo, of all Project resource management activities and provide exception reports as necessary, which forecast potential problems and provide recommendations on remedial actions.
  • Assists in creating detailed project budgets and cash flow projections from estimates.
  • Works with senior project management staff to manage the overall project cost control efforts.
  • Works with scheduling staff to develop, manage, revise, and update integrated detailed project schedules including all phases of project execution.
  • Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
