About The Position

The Cost Accountant position at Vitro Automotive Glass is responsible for hands-on reporting and coordination of all accounting functions related to budgeting, cost estimates, inventory control, and monthly closings. This role also provides the Business Unit and Plant Management with accurate and timely financial information, ensuring compliance with VITRO corporate policies, government regulations, and GAAP standards. Vitro Automotive Glass produces advanced glass products for global automotive manufacturers, focusing on safety, comfort, and efficiency. The company operates manufacturing plants, fabrication facilities, and distribution centers worldwide, dedicated to automotive glass production for both OEM and automotive replacement glass (ARG) operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • The successful candidate will have good communication and analysis skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • The individual must be able to work well independently, have highly effective organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP accounting and production systems (or equivalent).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing experience in cost accounting or FP&A preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Incumbent is responsible for product costing and inventory valuation, as well as supervision of ongoing production reporting and shipping transactions.
  • Position is critical to the monthly closing process by assisting the plant controller in analysis, journal entry completion, work order closing in SAP, labor analysis, accrual analysis and other closing related tasks as assigned, within the required corporate guidelines and utmost accuracy.
  • Responsible for account reconciliations and analysis of ongoing transaction monitoring under the controller’s supervision.
  • The incumbent is a critical part of the annual budget process, as well as weekly and monthly forecasting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Fixed and variable absorption, updates recognition and quantification of productivity improvements and projected spending on a detailed account basis.
  • Similarly, the incumbent is instrumental in the creation of the weekly projection and monthly results dashboard reporting. Working with functional leaders as necessary to explain and comment on major variances
  • This role will provide ongoing support to the operations team in quantifying the financial impact of operations decisions including cost reduction and investment analysis.
  • The position will complete ad hoc analyses on an ongoing basis, at the request of the Plant Manager, Plant Controller and Business Unit Finance Group.
  • Function also provides support for plant Storeroom.
