About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Finance, The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, managing, and reporting manufacturing costs associated with the design, production, and distribution of dental equipment and related components. This role supports accurate product costing, inventory valuation, margin analysis, and financial decision-making while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and experience with standard costs, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Experience with annual budget planning and subsequent variance analysis.
  • Strong IT experience: ERP (Epicor or IFS strongly preferred), Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis), Business Intelligence systems and tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing, preferably dental or precision equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA manufacturing regulations, or similar quality systems.
  • Professional certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze standard and actual product costs, including material, labor, overhead, and landed costs.
  • Perform variance analysis (price, usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption) and provide actionable explanations to management.
  • Support bill of materials (BOM) accuracy and routing structures in the ERP system.
  • Conduct ongoing product and margin analysis to support pricing strategies and profitability improvements.
  • Recommend changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce costs and maximize profit.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation in accordance with GAAP and Group standards.
  • Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies related to WIP, scrap, rework, and obsolete inventory.
  • Participate in and support physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to improve cost controls and manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes as they relate to manufacturing costs.
  • Prepare cost-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to inventory and costing.
  • Ensure costing practices align with internal controls and relevant quality and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA QSR where applicable).
  • Identify and implement process improvements in cost accounting, reporting, and ERP workflows.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by establishing preliminary and final product costs.
