Responsible for providing classroom and salon supervision to students in the Cosmetology/Esthetics program. Effectively manages classroom and salon operations in the absence of the instructor. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must hold a current Oklahoma Master Instructor license applicable to the instructional area in which the substitute will serve (i.e. Cosmetology, Esthetics) as required by the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering.
  • Lecture and demonstrative skills.
  • Reasoning ability and the ability to instruct.
  • Ability to observe, recognize, and interpret.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office components (MS Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides hands-on guidance and technical assistance to students practicing skills appropriate to their program area: Cosmetology, Esthetics.
  • Supervises students while performing services on clients and assists students as needed to ensure client safety, service quality, and a professional experience.
  • Demonstrates and reinforces proper techniques, procedures, sanitation, infection control, safety practices, and professional standards.
  • Assists students with consultation, service preparation, technical procedures, client care, and completion of services within the substitute instructor's licensed area of expertise.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, organized, and professional learning environment consistent with industry and program standards.
  • Keeps accurate records of student attendance and other required documentation.
  • Supports the daily operation of the student salon/spa, including maintaining appropriate client flow and assisting students in providing a positive client experience.
  • Performs teaching duties with personal accountability and responsibility.
  • Maintains professional accountability by being punctual and prepared according to the assigned substitute schedule.
  • Maintains professional appearance and conduct appropriate to the beauty and wellness industry and Francis Tuttle expectations.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with staff, students, clients, industry partners, and members of the public.
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality when working with students and clients.
  • Follows lesson plans, curriculum expectations, and instructional directions provided by the program instructor when applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the campus director in accordance with school/state policies and practices.
