Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years cosmetologist/hairstylist experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • State of New Mexico Board of Cosmetology license.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
  • Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.
  • Knowledge of hair styling, skin care and hair removal techniques.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of hair products sold and the ability to promote and sell them.
  • Proper use of equipment such as scissors, clippers, curlers, straighteners, and dryers.
  • Knowledge of caring for nails such as softening and trimming cuticles, shaping nails and applying nail polish.
  • Knowledge of working with hair such as cut, shampoo, style, and color using chemical solutions such as bleach and dye.
  • Must be knowledgeable of daily “stand-ups” and actively participate in daily goals.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, and support team to reach common goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with bridal hair and makeup styles preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs consultation with guests to determine desired results.
  • Performs coloring, cutting, hair styling, and shampooing.
  • Performs cutting, cleaning, grooming, and painting nails.
  • Applies makeup and creates a variety of looks.
  • Sets up workstations with necessary equipment and supplies to ensure guest comfort and safety outlined in the provider check list.
  • Restocks all supplies leaving workstation stocked for the next technician at the end of each shift as outlined in the provider checklist.
  • Updates and maintains customer information records, such as beauty services provided, and guest preferences as outlined in the SOP.
  • Rebooks and upsells services to guests by educating, demonstrating and recommending product related to the service.
  • Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional as outlined in the SOP.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Follows all state board regulations to ensure proper sanitation of all implements and tools used.
  • Continues in computer-based learning and implements these skills into the workplace.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.
