The CGO Corrosion East team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in the North Bay to Hearst area responsible for the operation and reliability of our Cathodic Protection assets along with the implementation of maintenance programs that help sustain and enhance the performance of our CP systems while providing CP support to several projects. We are seeking a Corrosion Technician who will report to the Corrosion East Manager. The individual requires knowledge and experience in cathodic protection including the proven skills, competencies, and capacity to maintain our CP systems, lead and safely execute a variety of annual and technical surveys while collaborating with several key stakeholders throughout Operations, Projects & Engineering. Requirements

  • Journeyman Certification or 2 years of Technical Training from a recognized institution
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • NACE CP1 (Cathodic Protection Level 1) Certification
  • Cathodic Protection Rectifier Training Certification
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review.

Nice To Haves

  • NACE Cathodic Protection Level 2 Certification
  • 5 years’ experience in cathodic protection systems
  • Journeyman Electrician Certification
  • Demonstrated management skills in cost estimating, planning/self-scheduling, and assist with planning and coordination of resources.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and in collaboration with the technician’s team, Project Managers and Engineering & External Stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of TC Energy desktop applications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and utilize drawings.
  • Utilize TC Energy computer maintenance systems.
  • Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair cathodic protection systems.
  • Provide feedback & support to Cathodic Protection Engineering
  • Operate and maintain remote operating units for rectifiers.
  • Perform annual pipe to soil potential surveys, close interval surveys and analyze data.
  • Perform required diagnostic testing e.g., shorted casings, interference testing.
  • Assist and develop test station repair programs.
  • Ensure all work tasks and duties of team comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform Annual Visual & Ultra Sonic tank inspections as required.
