About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Corrosion Manager to join their team in Houston, TX. The Corrosion Manager will be responsible for performing routine duties to ensure the highest quality of laboratory services, ensuring they are provided in a timely, safe, legal, and ethical manner. The role involves designing laboratory programs, setting deliverable timelines, understanding technical capabilities, discussing technical issues, providing technical oversight, submitting Laboratory Work Instructions, monitoring project schedules and budgets, and preparing technical reports. The position also includes training and mentoring less experienced employees, adhering to company policies, and exercising good judgment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or MS in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, or other relevant scientific degrees.
  • Must have a grasp of industry-accepted experimental protocols.
  • Ability to process and QC experimental data.
  • Specific knowledge of applied testing for the evaluation of corrosion, screening of inhibitors, measuring rate of corrosion, pitting, weight loss.
  • Expected to be able to use Excel and Word to record, process lab data and generate technical reports.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to multitask on several projects simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. and 2+ years industry experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience with HPHT cell apparatus, flow loop and rheological instruments a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Designs laboratory programs in consultation with Program or Senior Project Managers.
  • Sets deliverable timelines and gains experience in project management skills.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of Company’s technical capabilities.
  • Discusses technical issues with Program or Project Managers, Lab Supervisors, and lab technicians.
  • Provides technical oversight and coordination of project engineering work.
  • Submits Laboratory Work Instructions to Lab Managers or Supervisors.
  • Monitors progress against project schedules and budgets.
  • Responsible for the preparation of technical reports and other project-specific documentation.
  • Assists in the training of less experienced employees and acts as a mentor.
  • Carries out responsibilities in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and strategy.
  • Exercises good judgment, commonsense, and diplomacy.
