About The Position

The Corrosion Control Specialist performs corrosion control related inspections in the field which may include pipe to soil readings, rectifier readings, gas samples, water samples and bond readings. This position monitors the corrosion control inspections schedules and performs all work within the required time limits according to the Company gas operating and maintenance procedures.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a related technical discipline (e.g., environmental sciences, chemistry, engineering technology) required.
  • Five years of relevant experience required (e.g., corrosion, gas or electric operations, troubleshooting electrical or mechanical systems).
  • In lieu of degree will consider a minimum of seven years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Ability to learn and use Ameren's Gas Compliance System and associated hardware.
  • Basic understanding of electricity.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data.
  • Understanding of the science and technology behind corrosion failure modes.
  • Understanding of the science and technology for control of internal or external pipeline corrosion.
  • Must achieve NACE CP Tester (CP I) certification within three years of accepting the position unless applicant has current NACE certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Cathodic protection or corrosion experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational checks and maintenance on corrosion control equipment including rectifiers.
  • Perform troubleshooting and identification of corrosion control deficiencies including the location of electric shorts and interference in the cathodic protection system.
  • Develop solutions and coordinate construction activities with Company personnel that are required to maintain adequate corrosion control systems and mitigate corrosion control deficiencies including the installation of test sites, anodes, bonds, and rectifier installations.
  • Maintain all corrosion control installation, inspection, and maintenance information including the cathodic protection maps and records.
  • Review applicable gas engineering designs for incorporation of all cathodic protection requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license or be able to obtain and maintain one.
