About The Position

Lakota Solutions is seeking qualified candidates for a Corrosion Control Painter/Helper position at Eglin AFB supporting a US Air Force program. This role involves performing various paint and paint removal/stripping tasks, including priming and painting equipment and vehicles, and using powder coating equipment. The candidate will also be responsible for sanding, stripping, masking, and ensuring compliance with instructions and regulations. A strong emphasis is placed on following all PPE requirements and understanding safety in the work environment. The position also includes applying spray Polyurea Bed Liner (Line-X) using specific equipment, disassembling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling painting and stripping equipment. Hazardous material handling, disposal, and operation/repair of specialized equipment like high-pressure water strippers and media blasters are also key responsibilities. The role requires ensuring proper paint booth functionality, maintaining maintenance documentation, and adhering to all applicable technical orders, manuals, and regulations. Good housekeeping and safety practices are essential for maintaining shop equipment and the work area. Additional duties may include serving as Facility Manager, Hazardous Waste Monitor, or vehicle Crew Chief as directed by the Site Manager. The individual will perform tasks directly supporting the corrosion work center and may be assigned similar or ancillary duties.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be US Citizen
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain common access card (CAC)
  • Candidate must have active DoD Secret Clearance
  • 3+ years experience with performing various paint and paint removal/stripping related tasks.
  • 3+ years experience with priming and painting equipment, vehicles etc.
  • 3+ years experience with powder coating equipment.
  • 3+ years experience with stenciling equipment
  • 3+ years experience with sanding, stripping, masking, unmasking, or adjusting masking as necessary to ensure instructions and regulations are complied with.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations concerning environmental and safety issues in a paint/shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing various paint and paint removal/stripping related tasks.
  • Primes and paints equipment, vehicles etc.
  • Uses powder coating equipment.
  • Sands, strips, masks, unmasks, or adjusts masking as necessary to ensure instructions and regulations are complied with.
  • Must follow all PPE requirements and understand the importance of safety in a work environment.
  • Applies spray Polyurea Bed Liner (Line-X), using GAP Pro spraying unit, on vehicles and assorted equipment.
  • Disassembles, cleans, repairs, adjusts, and reassembles painting and stripping equipment to include but not limited to HVLP spray guns, Intruder Aquamiser spray gun and E75 Pump Assembly.
  • Accounts, handles, and disposes of all hazardous materials used in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate and repair Aqua Miser (high pressure water stripper 35000 PSI), Glass & Plastic media Barns and cabinets.
  • Ensures paint booth has proper air flow and correct Manometer readings, and removes and replaces paint booth filters and wall coating.
  • Properly and accurately completes maintenance documentation and time accounting systems associated with repairs using basic computer skills in the daily performance of duties.
  • Ensures work performance exceeds Air Force quality requirements and standards Compliance with all applicable technical orders, equipment manuals, industry standards, operating instructions and regulations is required at all times in the performance of daily duties.
  • Maintain shop equipment, immediate work area, facilities, and vehicles using good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Perform additional duties related to the corrosion work center, such as Facility Manager, Hazardous Waste Monitor and vehicle Crew Chief as required by Site Manager.
  • Perform assigned tasks within your work center that directly supports necessary functions of this job classification.
  • May be required to perform like and similar duties of a lesser job description and other ancillary duties as assigned.
