Position Summary A clerical competent individual responsible for releasing protected health information consistent with regulations and departmental policies and procedures. Provides reception to all requestors for information via the telephone or as a walk-in and courteously and expeditiously processes the request within the established turnaround times. This position is responsible for reception duties including mail sorting and distribution. Responsible for preparing all designated information for imaging (scanning & indexing) all required documents within the timeframe. This position is responsible for reception duties including mail sorting and distribution. Responsible for the prompt retrieval and filing of all medical information consistent with departmental policies and procedures. Duties include purging of records in accordance with designated time frames. Responsible for reception duties including mail sorting and distribution. Evaluation of competencies will occur on a random basis throughout a year. Productive hours on a weekly basis will be used for assessing the productivity standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year in a Health Information Management (HIM) (medical record) department, Hospital, clinic, nursing home or equivalent one year in a HIM academic program.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIM Department, file maintenance, record assembly and analysis for inpatient and outpatient records, is essential.

  • preference given to candidate with successful completion of a health information management or physician office practice management program.
