As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator with the Department of Corrections, you will maintain boiler plant equipment and guide inmate workers in safe processes at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township. Requirements
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain boiler equipment under normal and emergency conditions
- Perform routine and non-routine inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs
- Run and maintain pumps, fans, control equipment, and related systems
- Test boiler water chemistry and track chemical inventory and results
- Supervise inmate workers, monitor movement, and ensure safe work practices
- Complete daily logs, inventories, and required paperwork
