This position is responsible for contributing to the public safety mission by providing first-line supervision to Corrections Officers and Corrections Officer Trainees in an institutional setting. The role involves supervising and monitoring staff on an assigned shift to ensure a safe and secure environment. The Corrections Sergeant communicates with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public, and leads and counsels staff. Completing required training and maintaining a safe and productive workforce are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the Lead Sergeant (S2) acts as a subject matter expert, supports the shift Lieutenant, mentors and coaches other Corrections Officers and Sergeants, possesses advanced knowledge in specialty areas, and may assume a senior supervisory role in the Lieutenant's absence.
