About The Position

Responsible for overseeing individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial or who have been sentenced to serve time in jail for Montgomery County.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or other equivalent
  • 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screening and a physical exam
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Ability to fulfill all duties with minimal supervision and to work independently
  • Assess situations rapidly and make logical decisions in a timely manner
  • Analyze facts and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong math, spelling, computer, and calculator abilities
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, calm, and courteous manner with the general public and employees
  • Attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military, law enforcement or security experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitors inmate behavior and maintains order within the facility
  • Conducts routine head counts, inspections, and security checks
  • Escorts inmates to and from cells, courtrooms, visitation areas, and medical facilities
  • Searches inmates, cells, and common areas for contraband
  • Responds to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies according to established procedures
  • Enforces facility rules and reports violations
  • Completes detailed and accurate incident reports and daily logs
  • Supervises inmate activities, including meals, recreation, and work assignments
  • Operates surveillance systems, locks, and two-way radios
  • Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
  • Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary
  • Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
  • Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools, and other aids as required or needed
  • Protects and maintains any confidential information you have access to, whether oral, written, or electronic
