About The Position

The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Dallas, Correctional Industries (CI), is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in the manufacturing, production, and processing of products who also enjoys teaching others. As a Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson, you support inmate workers as they build hands-on skills and contribute to daily operations. This position guides inmate workers and maintains safe and effective production within the SCI Dallas CI Garment and Mattress Plant. It focuses on training, oversight, safety, and operational support across multiple work areas.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in the production of goods or services; or An associate degree in industrial technology, operations management, business administration, or a related field; and one year of work experience in the production of goods or services; or An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of work experience in the production of goods or services.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Instruct inmate workers in manufacturing methods and safe tool and equipment use
• Complete daily production logs, enter data, and submit attendance information
• Search work areas for contraband, monitor inmate movement, and maintain tool control
• Use software to track orders, materials, shipping, and purchasing needs
• Review reports, help set production goals, and recommend equipment improvements
