Corrections Food Service Instructor - SCI Camp Hill
About The Position
As a Corrections Food Service Instructor with the Department of Corrections, you will lead inmate workers in daily food service operations and teach safe, sanitary, and efficient kitchen practices. The position supports rehabilitation by helping inmates develop practical job skills in a structured kitchen setting, while maintaining safe operations and clear expectations. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, and is onsite with no telework option. Work hours are either 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM or a swing shift of 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with rotating days off. New Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees begin at an annual salary of $49,010 before taxes. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, is required.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or similar large-scale food production operation; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Guide inmates in preparing, producing, and serving meals safely and in an organized manner.
- Ensure food areas, tools, and equipment meet safety and cleanliness standards.
- Adjust recipes based on census data and maintain proper storage and rotation of supplies.
- Assign tasks to inmate workers and review their performance.
- Maintain order and accountability of inmates during work activities.
