Correctional Sergeant III (Tabor CI)
About The Position
Reporting to a Correctional Lieutenant III and/or Correctional Housing Unit Manager III, this position is responsible for assisting the Correctional Lieutenant and/or in the supervision of Correctional Officers at a medium and close custody institution. Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following: Supervising Correctional Officer III’s in a close-custody institution with restrictive and controlled housing. Assigning lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post, arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures, and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy. Overseeing officer activities/performance and ensuring that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders are maintained.
Requirements
- High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience as a Correctional Officer OR Two years of experience as a Correctional Officer III OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
- Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
- Pass a criminal background check
- Produce a negative drug screening result
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
- Possess a valid driver’s license
