About The Position

This position is located at Caswell Correctional Center in Caswell, NC, with a duty assignment to the medium custody facility. This facility houses and provides services for 484 inmates with a staff size of 155. Work in this job class will provide first-line supervision of Correctional Officer II's in a medium custody facility.

Requirements

Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
Pass a criminal background check
Produce a negative drug screening result
Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
Possess a valid driver’s license
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years of experience as Correctional Officer II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

Daily supervision of Correctional Officer activities and job performance to ensure that the custody, security, and welfare of offender is maintained.
Conduct shift line-up, create shift assignments to include duty area and post.
Inspect all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
Review, maintain and complete time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
This position will account for people and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready and implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy.
