About The Position

As a Correctional Security Guard - Part Time in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer in a government corrections location, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help deter security-related incidents, and support staff and visitors with strong customer service and communication. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities within a government corrections location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner while maintaining professional communication with staff, visitors, and/or the public.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, entrances, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and report unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and movement within assigned areas, verify credentials when required, and document security-related incidents, observations, and/or policy violations.
  • Support order at the location by following post instructions, communicating with site personnel, and assisting with security-related protocols during routine operations and/or emergency situations.
