About The Position

This position assists in the overall operation of the Unit Medication Room and distributes client medications from filled prescriptions. The role involves distributing and documenting Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmates’ medications, ensuring drug room security, replacing unit working drug stock, and maintaining the upkeep of the drug room and pharmaceutical equipment. The Medication Aide will enter medication compliance in the TDCJ pharmacy computer system and perform all duties within the limits of the Medication Aide Permit and according to the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and TDCJ policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current Medication Aide Certification.
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
  • Current credential from the Texas Department of State Health Services, OR Successful completion of a certified medication aide training course and passage of State exam.
