About The Position
Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail is hiring a reliable, qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide care for individuals in its custody. This part-time role is 24 hours per week and involves night shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Virginia.
- Strong understanding of nursing care principles.
- Ability to recognize signs of mental illness, emotional disturbances, or substance dependency.
- Proficient in phlebotomy and administering PPD tests.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to incarcerated individuals.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Collect vital signs, lab specimens, and patient health data.
- Support sick call and assist providers with procedures.
- Administer medications and maintain accurate MAR documentation.
- Monitor patient conditions and report changes.
- Conduct rounds and document patient progress.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Maintain medication security, including narcotics accountability.
- Assist with patient transfers and required reporting.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
