Requirements

Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
Pass a criminal background check
Produce a negative drug screening result
Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
Possess a valid driver’s license
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, as a Correctional Officer OR An equivalent combination of education and experience

Candidates may be considered for trainee appointments if fully qualified applicants are unavailable.

Responsibilities

Supervise and instruct offenders in food preparation, serving, and cleanup activities according to established menus and schedules.
Inspect food items and supplies for quality and quantity; report shortages or discrepancies promptly.
Complete required documentation, including production records, temperature logs, and inventory reports.
Coordinate timely meal service and distribution to designated housing units.
Assist with ordering, receiving, and storing food and supplies in compliance with inventory control procedures.
