Correctional Case Manager - Dan River Prison Work Farm
About The Position
This position is located at Dan River Prison Work Farm, Caswell, NC. Dan River Prison Work Farm is a minimum-custody prison housing male offenders. The largest offender population consists of minimum custody offenders. Reporting to Programs Supervisor I, employees in this class provide programs for the rehabilitation of offenders in the prison system. The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
Requirements
- Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
- Pass a criminal background check
- Produce a negative drug screening result
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

- Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
Responsibilities
- Developing case plans, answering and following up on offender questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
- Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinating major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education, or recreation as well as transition planning and coordinating.
- Plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.
