Correctional Case Manager - Franklin Correctional Center
About The Position
The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Franklin Correctional Center is in Bunn NC, Franklin County and is a medium custody male facility housing approximately 480 offenders. The individual assigned to this role will report to the Correctional Programs Supervisor. This facility has multiple programs which include Enterprise Sign Plant, High School Equivalency, Employment Readiness, Adult Outreach Correspondence, Thinking for a Change, Father Accountability, Commercial Driving License, Business, Hospitality, Commercial Cleaning, Industrial Maintenance, Logistics and Distribution, Computer Application.
Requirements
- Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
- Pass a criminal background check
- Produce a negative drug screening result
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
Nice To Haves
- Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
Responsibilities
- Manage an offender caseload which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up with offender questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
- Assists in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of inmates, such as inmate work assignments, work release, education, or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating.
