About The Position

This position is located at Avery/Mitchell Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Avery Mitchell Correctional Institution has been designated as a reentry facility and will direct programs to work toward the rehabilitation of offenders during their period of incarceration and prepare them for reentry into society and work as a Reentry team with a designated Probation Chief and Reentry Probation officer. The position will work under the direct supervision of the Reentry Programs Supervisor.

Requirements

• Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
• Pass a criminal background check
• Produce a negative drug screening result
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Associate’s degree in criminal justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
