About The Position

Franklin Correctional Center is a medium custody male facility in Bunn, NC, housing approximately 480 offenders. The individual in this role will report to the Correctional Programs Supervisor and will be involved in various facility programs such as Enterprise Sign Plant, High School Equivalency, Employment Readiness, Adult Outreach Correspondence, Thinking for a Change, Father Accountability, Commercial Driving License, Business, Hospitality, Commercial Cleaning, Industrial Maintenance, Logistics and Distribution, and Computer Application.

Requirements

  • Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Produce a negative drug screening result
  • Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an offender caseload which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up with offender questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
  • Assists in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of inmates, such as inmate work assignments, work release, education, or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating.
  • Plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.
