About The Position

The primary purpose of the Correctional Case Analyst is to perform a key analytical role within a prison Diagnostic Center operation, where initial intake, orientation and diagnostic functions are completed on all incoming admissions, as well as release violates/escapees, who may be readmitted to the prison system. The primary responsibility of the position is casework review and analysis. The Correctional Case Analyst will analyze social, criminal, medical and psychological information from offenders in order to develop correctional case summaries and correctional intervention plans for the offenders. The results of the interviews and analysis are critical in providing management with the necessary tools to make decisions for offender security level, housing and work assignment, as well as program activity. The Correctional Case Analyst will ensure review of data and recommendations focus on maintaining safety and security for the offender, as well as protecting the public. The Correctional Case Analyst is charged with the responsibility of providing the system with pertinent information about offenders and must do so in a timely, accurate manner. The position works independently and receives instruction from the Correctional Diagnostic Center Director through verbal or written information. The position must have extensive knowledge of guidelines and interpretation as decisions impact the offender’s prison sentence. There is no room for error in interpretation as it could be detrimental and result in legal ramifications. All decisions are made following specific policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in testing or interviewing, and/or counseling; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret legal commitments/documents, medical data, psychological data, criminal history, social history, statistical information gathered from interviews and written documentation
  • Develop effective treatment plans for offenders including recommendations for housing, custody, treatment and programming.
  • Comprehend and abide by policy, standard operating procedures, emergency plans, memorandum, legal documents and other directives, both written and verbal, governing daily activities.
  • Perform routine supportive counseling and crisis intervention functions to include suicide prevention, recognizing abnormal behavior and taking appropriate action in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform rescue functions during emergencies, i.e., physically removing people from dangerous areas and securing people from confined areas.
