About The Position

This position is located at Maury Correctional Institution in Hookerton, NC. Maury Correctional Institution is a close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 1500 offenders. Positions at this level perform duties including data entry, collection, and making and reporting clinical impressions of inmates during assessment or in daily activities on the Residential Mental Health or infirmary unit. This position may assist in group or individual supportive counseling in groups such as arts and crafts, leisure activities, horticulture, and quilting. This position may be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and inventorying supplies used for programming. Employees may set up testing situations in the diagnostic center and in monitoring inmates as they work on treatment goals and may also assist in aftercare planning under the direction of a clinical social worker. Employee's supportive counseling role includes the use of crisis intervention techniques and referral to treatment staff as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
