Correctional Sergeant l - (Southern CI)
About The Position
Reporting to the Correctional Housing Unit Manager II, this position provides supervision for subordinate officers regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a Minimum/Medium/Close custody state correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post - Supervising and assigning subordinate officers to a particular area or post. - Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. - Accounting for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready. - Responsible for subordinate officers' activities relating to the custody and welfare of offenders. - Working rotating and various duty assignments within the defined level of work.
Requirements
- Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
- Pass a criminal background check
- Produce a negative drug screening result
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience as a correctional officer
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
