About The Position

This position is located at Carteret Correctional Center in Carteret County, NC and houses minimum custody male offenders. Reporting directly to the Correctional Warden, the Correctional Associate Warden of Operations is responsible for assisting the Warden in the total operations of the facility. Additionally, this position has direct management and supervisory responsibility for the operations of several critical functions to include the general day-to-day and the 24-hour operation of the facility.

Requirements

Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
Pass a criminal background check
Produce a negative drug screening result
Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of supervisory, administrative or consultative experience in corrections or related work; OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

Ensure the safety and security of the housing of male offenders housed at a minimum custody correctional institution and ensuring the safety of the staff and general public.
Working closely with supervisors to provide guidance and direction on prison policies and
Providing direction and structure for the work of the Correctional Captains, Correctional Lieutenants, Correctional Sergeants Correctional Officers, and support staff.
During any extended period of absence of the Warden.
