About The Position

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Correction Warden Analyst. This role operates under general supervision and requires significant knowledge of the criminal justice system or Ohio's adult rehabilitation and correction system. The primary function is to act on behalf of the Warden by serving as the institution's STG (Security Threat Group) Coordinator, gathering intelligence, and managing inmate classification related to gang affiliation. The position involves conducting interviews, responding to STG incidents, maintaining records, implementing policies, and serving as a liaison between various departments and external agencies. Additionally, the role includes training security staff, responding to public inquiries, preparing reports, and participating in institutional committees and investigations.

Requirements

  • 21 mos. exp. in Ohio's adult rehabilitation & correction system; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in English grammar & composition or business communication.
  • Completion of undergraduate major core program in criminal justice or related field.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
  • Job Skills: Corrections, Investigation, Interviewing, Training, Conflict Management, Teamwork and Confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Act for Warden by serving as institution's STG Coordinator gathering intelligence.
  • Conducts initial & ongoing interviews to determine inmate classification levels to identify gang affiliation (e.g., passive, active, & disruptive).
  • Responds to possible STG incidents & informs Warden &/or staff of findings concerning STG activity.
  • Creates & maintains inmate records in DOTS Portal as it relates to gang activity (e.g., film, notes, pictures, updated classification levels).
  • Implements & enforces STG policies & procedures institution wide.
  • Serves as administrative liaison between Warden, Operation Support Center (OSC), STG Administrator, Legal Services & Bureau of Classification & staff.
  • Coordinates activities with Bureau of Classification (e.g., notifications of inmate activity to determine appropriate actions).
  • Serves as institution STG Committee Chairperson & conducts monthly meetings to discuss STG activity.
  • Provides training & technical support for security staff.
  • Researches & responds to inquiries & complaints from general public & outside agencies.
  • Prepares reports, maintains & audits records according to department standards.
  • Serves on institutional committees.
  • Assists in staff development and training.
  • Assists with investigations.
  • Conducts site visits.
  • Acts as duty officer as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
