The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking individuals to begin their career as a Correction Officer. They supervise inmate activity, monitor security controls and equipment, conduct inmate counts and searches, and complete required reports. The position may involve the use of physical force, firearms, or other means to detain inmates when necessary. Newly hired officers start at $24.88 per hour, moving to $25.61 after six months, with an additional $0.60 per hour for second or third shift work. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is a tobacco-free and drug-free workplace, with specific prohibitions against hiring individuals with certain criminal histories or weapons disabilities.
