About The Position

Subscribes to, adheres to, and shares the Doctrines, Mission, and Positions of The Salvation Army. Serves as an evangelist to the community and constituency of the Congregational Life; develops and leads worship services and ministerial programs; provides spiritual guidance and leadership to the same. Serve the Congregational Life by assisting the Congregational Life Officer in planning, coordinating, administrating, monitoring, evaluating, and developing the day-to-day operations of the Congregational Life; develops and leads religious programs; participates in social service programs providing assistance to people in need; coordinates arrangements for seasonal programs and recruits/supervises volunteers for the same; Supervises and schedules Congregational Life groups, community outreach programs, and social service work; monitors and maintains adequate financing and budgetary compliance of the Congregational Life operations. Participates in providing assistance to people in need.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • Three years’ experience performing mission work or experience participating in program development for a church or Congregational Life
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Must be a Salvationist in Good Standing and participating on a regular basis in Congregational Life programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an evangelist through the proclamation of Jesus Christ as redeemer with the intent of impacting the lives of men and women through spiritual regeneration; promotes membership into the body of Christ which includes but is not limited to The Salvation Army.
  • Assists Congregational Life Officer in planning and implementing worship and outreach programs for the Congregational Life that reaches across all age groups.
  • Plans, develops, prepares, and leads specific youth ministries programs; prepares and coordinates or assists with production of Christian program materials and newsletters; assists in Sunday School teacher development.
  • Assists and partners with the Congregational Life Officer(s) in developing Salvation Army evangelical mission outreach and growth; assesses local community needs and advises Congregational Life Officer of findings; identifies specific areas to target for outreach growth; encourages and helps to train Congregational Life members for mission; develops a Congregational Life mission team where possible.
  • Assists in developing, leading and/or supporting Salvation Army evangelical mission programs and ministries in Congregational Life/ club; plans, develops and coordinates bridging events between Congregational Life and persons served in mission, clubs, centers, shelters, etc.
  • Assists and partners with the Congregational Life Officers in developing and conducting the Pastoral Care plan for Pathway of Hope.
  • Maintains appropriate records and outcomes of the Pastoral Care plan per Pathway of Hope guidelines.
  • Maintains appropriate communication with Pathway of Hope case manager.
  • Assists in training and developing playing and singing music groups, as well as, leading them in performance as necessary.
  • Visits individuals and groups in the local community in order to establish a presence in the community and to increase awareness of Salvation Army ministries/programs; builds personal and professional relationships in order to learn firsthand the needs of the local community.
  • Communicates research findings as well as pertinent information about the local community to the Congregational Life Officer; prepares and provides regular progress reports; maintains statistics on program and ministry participants and Congregational Life/ Salvation Army evangelical mission growth.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates program services based on changing needs of clientele.
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers for Congregational Life programs.
  • Sets an example for the church by being a Salvationist in Good Standing and participating on a regular basis in Congregational Life programs.
  • Serves as an advocate for ensuring the divisional and local representatives, leadership, and program participants are aware of defined goals and requirements; works cooperatively and effectively with local management and participants to ensure goals are met.
  • Assists in the promotion of Congregational Life growth goals and plans as well as Army programs and services in the community.
  • May drive Salvation Army vehicle to transport church members to/from Congregational Life programs; operates vehicles in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
