About The Position

New York Life is seeking an experienced and skilled Scrum Master to join the Enterprise Technology Services Team. This role will facilitate multiple cross-functional technology programs and play a critical role in New York Life’s Technology Transformation Strategy. The individual will oversee Lean Portfolio Management, ensuring the portfolio’s work aligns with strategic themes, financial goals, and broader organizational objectives. Experience with modern full stack technology infrastructure patterns, core infrastructure, cloud, Kubernetes, and microservices platforms is essential. The role involves interfacing with all areas of the technology organization, sponsoring PI Planning to maintain a “six quarter walk,” ensuring financial targets are met within each program, and reporting program status to key stakeholders and senior leadership.

Requirements

5+ years of overall IT experience.
Certified Scrum Master.
Developing complex multi-million-dollar business cases.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Executive presence with high business & technical acumen.
Strong facilitation skills for large-scale events and workshops.
Solid understanding/experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process.
Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and technical/product teams.
Experience delivering programs in large enterprise environment.
5+ years of experience with successful large scale program delivery.
Experience with modern full stack technology infrastructure patterns.
Experience with core infrastructure, cloud, Kubernetes, and microservices platforms.

Nice To Haves

AWS Foundational or higher certifications.
Versed in infrastructure as code practices using Terraform.
Public cloud provider experience (AWS certification a plus).
Practical understanding of infrastructure technologies - compute, network, storage.
Ability to relate to software engineering challenges and practices.
Working knowledge of DevOps and delivery tools (GitHub).
Ability to be self-directed, a good team player and capacity for effective time management.
Solid background in Cloud Service provider product offerings – AWS, Azure.
Hashicorp Terraform and AWS certifications a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in related field is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Defining, planning, and orchestrating timely project communications, including periodic status reports.
Ensuring clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business value and outcomes.
Directing large scale, complex projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders and matrix partners.
Acquiring updated estimates throughout Technology Delivery Life Cycle (TDLC) phases.
Working within IT project management standards and participating in continuous improvement efforts.
Rigorously managing scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed on time, cost, and quality parameters.
Managing project risks and mitigation or contingency plans.
Identifying program impediments and addressing them with appropriate urgency and escalation.
Leading cross-functional meetings and fostering teamwork.
Proposing recommendations and process change through defined change management procedures.
Validating financial forecasts and providing ongoing reconciliation of resources and other project expenditures.
Representing projects in various project governance and inter-department forums.
Sponsor PI Planning to maintain a “six quarter walk” and ensure financial targets are met within each program.
Reporting program status to key stakeholders and senior leadership.
