About The Position

OUC - The Reliable One is seeking a Corporate Strategy Lead to join the Transformation division. This role is responsible for leading OUC's enterprise Strategic Intelligence and Strategic Roadmapping programs, delivering research and insights that shape executive decision-making and the organization's long-term direction. The position involves researching emerging technologies, industry trends, business models, and market developments impacting the utility sector, translating complex information into clear strategic recommendations for executive leadership and the Board. Responsibilities include facilitating enterprise strategic planning, developing long-term roadmaps, coaching junior team members, and serving as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving ambiguous problems, connecting ideas across industries, and influencing strategy through research and storytelling. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, strategic planning, market research, competitive intelligence, business transformation, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience researching emerging technologies, industry trends, regulatory developments, and market dynamics, with the ability to translate findings into strategic business recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing executive-level materials and presenting complex topics to senior leadership and/or Boards.
  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity, synthesize information from diverse sources, and communicate clear, actionable insights.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to develop executive-quality presentations and analytical models that support strategic decision-making.
  • Experience using strategic intelligence platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), PitchBook, CB Insights, or similar research tools.
  • Diverse industry exposure—ideally including utilities, infrastructure, technology, consulting, manufacturing, or other innovation-driven industries—that brings broad strategic perspective and cross-sector thinking.
  • Experience developing strategic plans, enterprise roadmaps, or executive decision-support materials, with the ability to facilitate discussions among cross-functional leaders.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in strategy planning and development, business reporting, data analytics, or finance/accounting (required).
  • Above to include two (2) years of leading strategic projects, programs, employees, teams, training and/or work groups (required).
  • Experience with strategic data analysis (required).
  • Entrepreneurial and able to drive high impact business decisions without management oversight.
  • Ability to create financial models, strategic frameworks and PowerPoint presentations at a level on par with leading management consulting firms.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop entry and intermediate level team members ensuring quality and consistent deliverables.
  • Executive audience communication experience, comfortability recommending high-impact business decisions to Executive Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Ability to work with large data sets for use in forecasting and trend analysis.
  • Expert understanding of current and emerging technologies, and of how other enterprises are using them to drive business.
  • Expert knowledge financial statements and ability to link strategic initiatives to financial outcomes.
  • Expert understanding of green technology, decarbonization themes, and clean technology investment trends.
  • Advanced at cross-functional leading teams and facilitating executive meetings.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of projects from inception to implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, anticipate challenges and plan accordingly in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into pieces that can be solved with data, analysis, assumptions, and judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile information from various sources and consolidate into strategic recommendations and influence decision making.
  • Demonstrated affinity for business reporting, analysis, forecasting, and working with uncertainty.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, modeling, developing complex spreadsheets, algorithms, analysis tools, and displaying quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg terminal, Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Pitchbook, or similar data sources.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances and laws.
  • Use Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with emerging energy technologies, artificial intelligence, decarbonization, digital transformation, or other disruptive trends affecting the utility industry (preferred).
  • Professional certification (CPA, CFA, etc.), preferred.
  • Utility industry experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead OUC’s transformative, high-impact Strategic Road-mapping program that guides the Commission’s long-term strategy.
  • Oversee OUC’s Strategic Intelligence & Research function for executive decision making, and oversee internal and external consulting engagements.
  • Integrate professional experience with industry specific research and data analysis.
  • Coach and develop entry and intermediate level team members and independently lead Executive-Level strategic analyses.
  • Communicate directly with Senior Leadership and support business units on their strategic plan implementation with an entrepreneurial approach.
  • Manage a portfolio of Strategic Roadmaps designed to transform the Commission including all stages of Road-mapping (research, development, implementation, monitoring, communication).
  • Develop financial models (NPV, ROI) and resource availability models to prioritize Strategic Projects.
  • Lead executive communication highlighting the significance of statistical findings using business acumen and vernacular common to the utilities industry.
  • Oversee a portfolio of Strategic Research projects led by team members, supporting the team to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Provide coaching opportunities where available.
  • Synthesize data across OUC’s portfolio of Strategic Research to ensure executive communication remains consistent and business recommendations are synergetic.
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity to advance the OUC Strategy & Planning department and add value to OUC Business Units.
  • Lead, oversee, and develop the OUC Strategy & Planning Internship Program.
  • Manage a portfolio of Strategic Projects that drive the Employee, Customer, and Community Strategic Roadmaps.
  • Lead cross-functional facilitation sessions with Senior Management.
  • Create financial models and implementation plans to support the development business cases.
  • Develop and deliver presentations for Executives and Board of Directors.
  • Coach team members, executives and others who need assistance and advice regarding strategic project management practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
