This role will focus on extracting, analyzing, and reporting on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) data, building KPI dashboards, preparing presentations, and supporting compliance initiatives. The co-op will also assist in program development, create safety awareness materials, and update internal documentation. There will be opportunities to liaise with plant staff and potentially travel to manufacturing sites within the Toronto GTA.

Requirements

  • Current student enrolled in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Environmental Science. Recent graduates will be considered as well.
  • Ability to create engaging presentations and visual communications (PowerPoint, Canva, or similar)
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and data management skills; critical thinking and a high degree of organization are a must
  • Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skills; fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Strong interest in and commitment to Health and Safety and the Environment
  • Candidates must have their own transportation as travel may be required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Intelex or a similar EHS management platform
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization/dashboarding tools
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and/or environmental legislation
  • Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and environmental legislation and engineering documents
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Extract, analyze, and report on HSE data from Intelex (incidents, inspections, observations, audits, action plans, training)
  • Build and maintain HSE KPI dashboards and reports to identify trends and target areas of improvement
  • Prepare presentations and other visual communications for corporate and site audiences
  • Track and follow up with sites to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Assist in compiling performance reporting for North America
  • Work on assigned projects supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Assist in program and procedure development and implementation
  • Design safety posters, safety shares, and awareness materials using Canva and PowerPoint
  • Update the department's internal documentation library (SharePoint)
  • Liaise with plant staff on health, safety, and environmental issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned; may require some travel to manufacturing sites within the Toronto GTA
  • Must be comfortable wearing PPE including safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, and gloves
