About The Position

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Three to five years human resources management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, preferred with emphasis in human resources, business management, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Guide plant HR Managers to ensure consistent application of HR policies
  • Implement strategic HR initiatives across multiple locations
  • Drive continuous improvement in HR processes and systems
  • Oversee corporate recruitment processes and support plant-level hiring needs
  • Manage immigration and out of area recruitment initiatives
  • Administer employment offers and pre-employment screening
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure consistent onboarding
  • Ensure organizational adherence to federal and state employment regulations
  • Develop and maintain the corporate Affirmative Action Plan, including required training and outreach activities
  • Conduct compliance audits of HR processes and recommend necessary adjustments
  • Investigate and resolve employee complaints in accordance with company policy and legal requirements
  • Maintain comprehensive and confidential HR record systems for all employment-related documentation
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of HRIS data across all locations
  • Oversee benefit enrollment processes and coordinate with Benefits Manager on program administration
  • Manage performance management systems and ensure timely completion of reviews
  • Direct learning and development initiatives for all employees across the organization
  • Monitor training compliance and completion rates across locations
  • Provide coaching and professional development to plant HR Managers
  • Create capability-building opportunities for the HR team and broader organization
  • Develop and analyze key HR metrics and KPIs for executive leadership review
  • Identify trends and implement corrective actions to address unfavorable metrics
  • Provide back up support to the Corporate Payroll & Benefits Manager
  • Other duties as assigned
