About The Position

Kahuna is seeking a proactive and motivated Corporate Counsel to work with our Energy Execution services (engineering, consulting, construction, and project management, operations) entities. This position handles the legal needs of a highly successful engineering firm involved in multiple complex projects and reports directly to the firm’s management. The ideal candidate will have experience negotiating and drafting a variety of complex services and procurement agreements as well as negotiating commercial deals.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with a law school class rank in the top 50%.
  • Be in good standing to practice law in the state of Colorado.
  • Must have three (3) to four (4) years of experience working with contracts for provision of professional services and/or construction and design contracts at a law firm or in-house.
  • Excellent communications, organization, and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple projects and communicate complex legal issues with multiple business departments.
  • Experience with and understanding of corporate risk management and appropriate contractual and insurance requirements to manage the same.
  • A desire to work closely with our business units on negotiating deals and developing strategy.
  • Perform risk assessment by analyzing current risks and identifying potential risks that may affect the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with employment law and other general legal needs of a mid-size business is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate Master Service Agreements and other commercial contracts for engineering, design, and construction of midstream oil and gas facilities.
  • Establish and maintain Kahuna’s business and professional licensing in jurisdictions where Kahuna operates.
  • Maintain corporate insurance risk programs and manage insurance claims as well as compliance with government regulations and required filings.
  • Create, manage, and update corporate documentation and policies in connection with ongoing updates to business plans.
  • Keep abreast of all proposed and enacted rules and regulations that may impact the company’s operations.
  • Assist with other responsibilities as needed.
