About The Position

We are looking for a talented Corporate Development Manager to join our team at Cummins in Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Drive Strategic Growth Initiatives You'll lead high-impact corporate development projects—such as acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships—that directly shape the company's future and competitive positioning. Valuation Expertise By overseeing the creation of detailed valuation models, you'll provide the analytical foundation for multi-billion dollar decisions, ensuring investments are aligned with strategic goals. Develop Investment Thesis Your role in evaluating the strategic rationale of potential transactions and identifying key risks / opportunities will drive our long-term growth strategy. Lead Due Diligence You'll lead our due diligence efforts, ensuring that financial, operational, and commercial aspects of deals are thoroughly vetted and successfully executed. Lead Deal Negotiations By understanding the key business drivers, you’ll negotiate purchase agreements and other contracts that achieve our strategic objectives and protect Cummins. Influence Senior Leadership Team You’ll work collaboratively with senior leaders including business unit leaders, functional experts and their staff to drive alignment across the organization. Mentor and Manage Analysts You'll fostering the team’s development and ensure high-quality support for corporate development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strategic Mindset: Expected to tackle unfamiliar challenges, iterating quickly and integrating diverse insights to drive innovative solutions.
  • Financial Modeling and Valuation Skills: Building and interpreting detailed financial models—while understanding accounting implications—is essential for evaluating deals and communicating their impact to stakeholders.
  • M&A Experience: Experience leading cross-functional due diligence efforts—engaging stakeholders, managing third-party advisors, and synthesizing findings to inform valuation, deal terms, and integration planning.
  • Ownership & Drive: Demonstrates a strong sense of accountability and motivation, consistently taking initiative and ownership of project success and business impact.
  • Effective Communication: Develops and delivers clear, audience-tailored communication across multiple formats, ensuring understanding and alignment at all levels.
  • Strong Negotiation Skills: Success hinges on your ability to manage complex deal dynamics, assess leverage, and strategically position Cummins Inc. for optimal outcomes in negotiations.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Effectively anticipates, balances, and manages the needs of diverse internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree – Finance, Accounting, Business, Strategy required
  • 4-6 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking or transaction advisory services
