About The Position

Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas, with a presence in Dallas, TX for groups such as Corporate Development, Legal and HR. The company focuses on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas. The Corporate Development Intern will undertake an assigned summer project, working directly on business functions including acquisitions and divestitures, valuation and financial analysis, market intelligence, and corporate strategy. The internship is approximately 12 weeks long, from May to August 2027.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or a similar discipline
  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with a strong work ethic and high attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to work in Dallas, TX for the duration of the internship
  • Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Nice To Haves

  • GPA of 3.40 or higher
  • Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience
  • Familiarity with the upstream sector and oil and gas industry as a whole
  • Prior internship experience within a financial or M& A setting

Responsibilities

  • Work on an assigned, individual Corporate Development project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback’s executive team
  • Develop and increase knowledge of A& D, valuation, and deal evaluation within the oil and gas industry under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor
  • Support screening and evaluation of potential acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture opportunities, including comps, NAV, and accretion/dilution analysis
  • Assist in preparing deal-related and strategic deliverables for senior executives and the Board of Directors
  • Maintain knowledge of Permian Basin transaction activity, peer positioning, and industry trends
  • Interface with other departments (Finance, Land, Engineering, Legal) to understand the processes that drive deal evaluation and execution
  • Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and active completions spread
