Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their Department of Legal Affairs (DLA). This role will provide legal services and advice on a variety of matters for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Cedars-Sinai Health System, and affiliated entities. The primary focus of this position will be supporting real estate, leasing, construction, land use, and environmental matters, as well as general healthcare transaction work. The Corporate Counsel will analyze and interpret laws, advise on strategic and operational matters, participate in risk management, negotiate agreements, and stay informed about trends in the healthcare industry. The role requires independence in performing duties, with responsibilities varying based on project complexity. The Corporate Counsel will also serve as a representative for Cedars-Sinai initiatives, develop expertise in specific legal areas, interact with outside counsel, and ensure timely and effective client service. They will provide legal advice, consultation, and policy analysis, conduct research, and prepare written guidance for executives. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, governance documents, and policies are key responsibilities. A working knowledge of healthcare regulatory matters such as Stark law and California laws regarding medical practice foundations and corporate practice of medicine is necessary. The role also involves assisting with litigation, supervising outside counsel, and providing legal information as a continuing education resource. Collaboration with the Corporate Integrity Department and other compliance functions is expected, as is participation in DLA initiatives and special projects. The Corporate Counsel will foster a team-focused approach to legal service delivery and build effective working relationships with internal staff and external parties.
