About The Position

J.P. Mascaro & Sons, a growing family-owned solid waste services company, is seeking a motivated and experienced attorney to join its Legal Department as Corporate Counsel. This role will focus on personal injury litigation, particularly trucking and transportation cases, and offers the opportunity to lead high-quality cases in a collaborative environment while also engaging in other in-house legal responsibilities. The position is based at the Corporate Office in Audubon, PA.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice and in good standing in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
  • 6-10 years of litigation experience, preferably in transportation, personal injury defense, or insurance defense.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with trucking/transportation litigation.
  • Extensive experience drafting all manner of civil litigation pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, and similar documents.
  • Experience 'first chairing' depositions, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and trucking industry standards.
  • Experience with accident reconstruction and working with expert witnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the company in all phases of personal injury litigation, with a focus on trucking and transportation litigation, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
  • Manage cases from inception through trial, including legal research, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and case reporting.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as required.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, the in-house claims team, and support staff to deliver high-quality legal services.
  • Maintain direct contact with the in-house claims team, company management, insurance carriers and partners, and experts and vendors.
  • Ensure timely reporting and compliance with company guidelines.
  • Assist in other Legal Department matters as needed, including commercial and employment litigation, general corporate matters, regulatory matters, employment matters, and real estate matters.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
