About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Legal and Contracts Department is seeking a Corporate Counsel, Cybersecurity & Privacy to provide expert legal support in the DC metropolitan area. This attorney will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property, Technology and Information Law. The role involves collaborating with and advising legal colleagues, business partners, and management on complex cybersecurity and privacy law issues. Responsibilities include advising on cybersecurity requirements in government contracts and third-party agreements, supporting company frameworks for safeguarding data and information systems, and providing thought leadership on strategic cybersecurity and privacy initiatives. The position also entails advising on information security law, monitoring legal and regulatory developments, engaging with industry groups, and developing enterprise-wide training on cybersecurity and privacy topics.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree and Bachelor’s degree
  • Active State Bar Membership
  • At least 8 years’ cybersecurity and privacy experience in a law firm, government, or as in-house counsel
  • Experience in negotiating cybersecurity and privacy related terms in government contracts and commercial agreements
  • Experience working closely with other lawyers, cybersecurity and privacy professionals and business leaders on cybersecurity and privacy issues
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance.

  • Significant experience with U.S. government contract cyber regulations (FAR and DFARS) and complex issues relating to information security
  • Active DoD Secret level security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with and providing strategic counseling to legal colleagues, business partners, and management on a wide range of complex cybersecurity and privacy law issues
  • Advising on cybersecurity requirements such as controls and reporting in government contracts and agreements with suppliers and other third parties
  • Supporting company frameworks and processes aligned with cyber and privacy legal and regulatory requirements for safeguarding sensitive data and information systems, compliance with standards and incident response
  • Providing thought leadership and supporting development and implementation of enterprise-level strategic cybersecurity and privacy initiatives
  • Advising on issues related to cybersecurity and privacy law including information security
  • Monitoring developments in policy, legal and regulatory requirements in cybersecurity and privacy, engaging with industry groups and customers, and advising leadership and business partners on best practices
  • Developing and conducting enterprise-wide training on cybersecurity and privacy topics
