About The Position

The Corporate Counsel assists leaders on the Legal and Vendor Relations teams by performing a variety of legal and procurement related duties, with a primary focus on reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and other business transactions. This role requires 100% onsite attendance in our Pontiac office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s and Law Degree
Admission or pending admission to the Michigan Bar with 1-3 years of relevant job experience
Experience reviewing and negotiating vendor and other contracts
Knowledge of the contracting and procurement processes
Have a commitment to continuous business improvement
Be capable of working closely with internal clients and outside counsel
Have effective planning, organizational and project management skills
Be able to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively
Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Have excellent written and communication skills
Have the ability to work independently
Have critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
Be self-motivated and able to work well in a team based environment

Nice To Haves

Previous in-house legal experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating vendor and other company contracts
Performing vendor risk management and due diligence functions
Identifying expiring contracts, managing contract reporting, and preparing amendments and termination letters
Drafting written correspondence with outside counsel, vendors, and other third-parties
Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
Editing legal documents for accuracy
Providing support and assistance to members of the Vendor Relations team.
Reviewing marketing materials and communications for legal and regulatory compliance
Other duties as assigned
