Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
  • Strong proficiency in technical accounting matters and US GAAP; CPA preferred.
  • A leader with 10+ years of progressive accounting and supervisory experience, including prior experience in public accounting and as a Controller.
  • Experience with ERP/Accounting systems including selection and implementation of new systems.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A change agent who drives themselves and their team for results and continuous improvements
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities while adhering to established deadlines; can simultaneously manage both day to day accounting operations and bigger projects.
  • A customer centric focus who views the accounting function as a service being provided to Operations.
  • Experience with multi-unit organizations that require P&Ls for each location.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Accounting department for all daily, monthly and annual financial requirements needed to support the Company.
  • Design and maintain the accounting system, financial reporting system and the chart of accounts.
  • Ensure that all accounting policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with GAAP and any other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the completeness of the monthly closing process.
  • Review the monthly results, including variances between budget, actual and prior year.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting function.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve existing processes and reduce costs.
  • Provide assistance and direction as required to improve effectiveness and overall performance of the department.
  • Lead and develop a team that support the needs of the business and furthers their individual growth and advancement.
  • Oversee the payroll function and ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual external financial audit and all other audits, such as sales and use tax, 401k plan and insurance.
  • Draft annual financial statements and footnotes for the annual report.
  • Oversee federal, state and local tax compliance and coordinate with tax accountants for any returns prepared externally.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with all internal financial control policies and procedures.
  • Partner with FP&A on all budget matters, forecasts, financial metrics and analysis.
