About The Position

About the Opportunity Our client, a large and well-established agriculture company based in Bakersfield, is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead its accounting operations. This organization is a recognized leader in its industry, with a strong commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and continued growth. The Corporate Controller will play a critical leadership role, overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic financial initiatives across the organization. Position Summary The Corporate Controller is responsible for managing the company’s accounting operations, including financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and team leadership. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership to provide financial insights that support business decisions and long-term strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Proven experience managing audits and working with external auditors
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, food production, or a related industry strongly preferred
  • CPA strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Lead the preparation and timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and all regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Coordinate and manage external audits and tax filings
  • Partner with FP&A and executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Support ERP optimization and financial system integrations
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance metrics
