About The Position

Our Corporate Head Office in Winnipeg, is seeking an on-site experienced and qualified Corporate Controller for our US operations. FLOFORM Countertops is a Canadian company with its head office in Winnipeg, MB and has 17 Showrooms and 8 fabricating facilities located in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. FLOFORM manufactures, sells and installs over 20,000 premium surface countertops a year. Established in 1961, FLOFORM is proud to be one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. This position plays an important role in the US Operations Team and is directly accountable to the VP of Corporate Finance for all financial accounting and reporting issues. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and operational teams of our US Operations to ensure that accurate, meaningful financial information is available for decision making and monthly financial reviews. The role will also be responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to the accounting team and interrelated branches to develop and implement policies and strategies to ensure data accuracy and risk mitigation. We are looking for a trustworthy, detailed, strategic, organized, self-motivated, collaborative leader and team player who takes pride in their work and is committed to fostering strong relationships. The successful candidate will have a strong accounting background and will need a dynamic and effective communication style to lead multifunction teams towards the same goal. During peak periods, this position will also work to support the accounting team as required.

Requirements

  • Professional Accounting Designation CPA (CA, CGA or CMA) considered an asset
  • 5 to 7 years in a supervisory role managing teams
  • Minimum of 5 years of related accounting and financial analysis experience required
  • Exceptional computer skills with Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with diplomacy and respect
  • Ability to train, mentor and develop employees
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise
  • In depth knowledge of operational accounting, revenue recognition, job profit analysis and cost analysis

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting software considered as asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead, Manage and Accountability for the US finance team
  • Schedule and run the month-end closing process in accordance with the timelines set by corporate head office
  • Oversee monthly corporate accounting, assisting when required
  • Understand, monitor, and improve business processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare and post journal entries, prepare account reconciliation related to the operations on a monthly basis
  • Prepare detailed data analysis for the operating branches
  • Interpret and analyze corporate financial performance
  • Variance analysis of financial results against budget
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and reports
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate internal control safeguards
  • Manage and co-ordinate year end audit for US group of companies
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility in handling multiple diverse projects at once while meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to drive results with minimal supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
