About The Position

This role is a 12-month contract position within the Corporate Communications team. The team's function is to shape how Canva is understood globally across customers, employees, investors, regulators, and the media. The team partners across the business to translate what Canva is building into clear, compelling narratives that build momentum, strengthen reputation, and accelerate growth. The team operates across more than a dozen countries, ensuring Canva is represented with clarity, consistency, and impact on a global stage.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in corporate and financial communications in the US market.
  • Track record of securing coverage in leading technology, business, and mainstream media outlets.
  • Strong understanding of the modern media landscape, including journalists, podcasts, Substacks, creators, analysts, and commentators driving conversations across technology, AI, business, and Silicon Valley.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to navigate sensitive and fast-moving situations with discretion, composure, and sound decision-making.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling communications across a range of formats and audiences, from media pitches and press releases to spokesperson briefings, executive communications, reactive statements, and internal updates.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and spokespeople to prepare for media engagements, keynote presentations, customer events, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Experience operating in fast-moving environments, taking ownership of complex work from strategy through execution, and bringing clarity to ambiguous situations.

Responsibilities

  • Support corporate communications in the US, driving proactive storytelling, media engagement, and reactive issues management across North America.
  • Drive media engagement in the US by developing trusted relationships with Silicon Valley, Wall Street, business, and technology reporters, tastemakers, and key opinion leaders.
  • Support major company announcements, including product launches, acquisitions, partnerships, and milestones, by partnering across the company to deliver coordinated, high-impact campaigns.
  • Build executive thought leadership programs by developing and executing thought leadership strategies for Canva's US leaders, with particular support for the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Support internal communications in the US by partnering closely with Canva's Global Communications to ensure the US team feels informed, connected, and celebrated across key moments, milestones, and company-wide initiatives.
